Rapunzel Tangled Theme Birthday Party

This year we decided to have the party outside. It seems like every year the party gets bigger and bigger. We had 18 kids this year. That's just too many in my house and with the weather over 100 every day in August in Texas it is just too hot in the back yard. So I chose a splash pad near our house. The kids had a blast:) I had SO much fun making all these things for Ellie's 5th Tangled party! I found lots of great inspiration at Oh Amanda & Family Fun.

My friend Sarah helped me make this the night before. It ended up leaning a bit but I thought gave it more character:)

I just made her a nametag for her backpack. I came across this idea on Etsy and just had to make her one.

I recently decided to redecorate my bedroom with yellow and grey. I finally found a quilt that I love and an accent pillow at Target. I am still on the hunt for some light grey sheets and bedskirt. Still working on painting. I finally found a shade of grey I liked after 3 samples.

I have been wanting silhouette pictures of the girls for awhile. I came across this great tutorial from Positively Splendid today. I used Photoshop to make mine and I love the way it turned out. Here is Miss E's. I am working on Miss P's next. If I can get her to sit still long enough to get a profile shot of her :)

Here is another tutorial I found from weddingbee.com too. I think I will try this one with Miss P and see which is easier.

TOP TEN FIRSTS

1. First Car a blue and 1990 silver Pontiac Sunbird with a moon roof. I miss that car;)

2. First Concert my aunt and uncle took me and my cousin to see Travis Tritt in Jackson. I think we were around 11 or 12.

3. First Job when i was 12 babysitting my little cousins. I continued to babysit all though high school too. My first real job was at 15 cleaning tables at Country and Western steakhouse.

4. First Time Out of the Country I went to Canada with my dad when I was 15. Coincidentally I just got back from living in Canada for 5 months.

5. First Thing I Do In The Morning is hoping it's not 6:30 Ellie sometimes gets up Really early. I am so not a morning person. If she does she usually lays in bed with me until 7am then it's breakfast for her and caffeine for me.

6. First Time Online was my first year of college. hummm. I had to think about this one. I think I was in high school.

7. First Online Person I Met In Real Life if i remember correctly...I haven't yet.

8. First Tragedy I Remember was my grandmother passed away when I was 8.

9. First Grade Teacher Mrs. Gaylord? I will never forget doing a play for Christmas in her class and I had the lead role and had to kiss a boy on the cheek. lol

Wow! This last month has been crazy! So much going on. Our friend got hurt so hubby flew down for a week to San Antonio on Valentines day. We left the next Monday from Canada and few to Tennessee. Spent two weeks there visiting family. Then drove from there to TX. We made it back in good time. Just getting back into the swing of things this week:)

There’s a picture on my camera I want to tell you about. I’m going to write about it for five minutes.

This picture kinda makes me sad. To think she is not a baby anymore and she is almost 5 years old. I cannot believe how fast time flies. She is such a sweet, strong-headed girl. Always caring and worrying about others. I remember when she was about 9 months old she started trying to kiss all of her friends and hug them. She has always been such a love bug. Such a strong spirit in that little body.

I asked her the other day what she wanted to be when she grew up. Her answer was "To be a princess and a mommy and live in castle". Such innocence. For a while now she has been talking about her and her baby sister when they grow up. She wants her baby sister to live with her forever. I love the bond they have. I missed that growing up being an only child. So I cherish those sweet moments they share together. I love being able to capture these moments with my camera to remember them always.

We had a great Christmas. It was our first Christmas since having Ellie of being away from our home in TX. We had a small quite relaxing Christmas this year with just our little family in Canada this year. It was Payton's first Christmas so that was exciting for me.. she didn't have any idea what was going on. Ellie was very excited this year for Santa to come. She ask for one thing and that was a radio with songs. So Santa brought a Princess CD player with a microphone. Here are some pictures from our Christmas.

Explaining Operation Christmas Child to Ellie

We are doing Operation Christmas Child this year. I was explaining to Ellie what it is. This is how the conversation went.

Me: We are going to fill the shoe boxes with goodies and toys for the needy kids.

Ellie: Well Santa can take them toys.

Me: Well Santa doesn't know where they live. Some kids don't have Mommies & Daddies.

Ellie: Why?

Me: lol No..I would never give you away..Although I have thought about it when you don't listen are don't talk nice to Mommy. lol

Stir Crazy...

We are going a little Stir Crazy this week. Miss P. has been sick so Tuesday we made The 1 1/2 trip across the border to the doctor and back. It wasn't so bad at the border crossing there were no long lines. It was just the 1 1/2 drive to the doctor that got us. Ellie kept asking are we there yet. She was "Very tired of being in her car seat". Which is funny because she really didn't complain that much on the 4 day 1800 mile road trip driving up here.

Hoping Miss P feels better after her nap. She is teething too so that's making her feel bad too. We just have to get out of this house today or we are going to go crazy!

Awe Man...Gutter Ball

So excited we can finally plan meals again. Now that hubby is home it makes it so much easier to cook for 3 rather than just me and Ellie. Grocery shopping here in Canada is a little different. They don't have a few of the usual things I use. No Lipton tea (and I love my sweet tea), couldn't find corn meal today for some reason. So no cornbread with the Beef Stew for this week.

Since we lived on the PH floor now 32 floors up. Getting groceries up with two kids is not so easy. So we do our grocery shopping together on Saturdays. So I am actually starting our meal plan on the 6th.

Thursday we worked on a new journal for Ellie. She decorated it up with stickers and made her first entry. This day we talked about the things she liked about herself. So she sat in front of the mirror and drew a picture of herself.

We have been homeschooling for 3 weeks now. So yesterday we went on a nature hunt and talked about Tree's and the seasons. We collected some leaves for some art work.

She sorted all the pine cones by size, leaves by color, then size. Then we made our Trees.

Today we did an "experiment" on how air moves. Ellie had a lot of fun with this one. Then we recorded the results in her journal.

This year we didn't get around to carving a pumpkin. We didn't really have a good place outside. So we made these paper pumpkins:)

After 1,835 miles, 7 days, 7 states, one country later. We made it!.

I am a little late in posting this. We arrived in Canada about a week 1/2 ago. Here are a few highlights from our trip.

The other day I was pumping & Ellie came in and told me..."I don't have big boobies mommy so I have to pump from my bellie button" and she stuck her pretend bottle to her bellie button...:) where does she come up with this stuff!

Last night at bedtime I told Ellie to start cleaning up her toys. She kept playing and finally started cleaning up. She stopped when she had only 5 things left to pick up and refused to pick them up because she was "really tired". So I told her several times if she didn't I would take away her dollhouse & barbies she had been playing with. This is her favorite thing to play with right now. Finally I asked one last time.. "Do you understand if you don't pick up those last few toys I will take your dollhouse away"? She said "Yes, take it away I am really tired." So I did just that and she put up no fight and went to bed. She has asked for it one time and I said no "You have to earn it back with good behavior."
