You Wake Her You Take Her...LOL

Guess I forgot got to blog about this one for some reason?? Last month I made a sign to put on my door bell. It NEVER fails that someone will ring the door bell while my daughter is sleeping! Solicitors and neighbors you name it. No one has
dared to ring the door bell when the sign is on the door :)

Works for Me Wednesday: Pick-up Fairy

Ok this is my first Works for me Wednesday. Giving it a try.

Started this earlier this week you probably so my post. So far it is working well for the time being! Ellie picks up her toys each morning before MDO and then again before she goes to bed. Hopefully this will last awhile.

This Giveaway Ends July 28th at Midnight

I recently received the Deluxe Set of Your Baby Can Read. This is what it included:

- 82 Double-Sided Word Cards
- 50 Game Cards
- 25 Sliding Word and Picture Cards
- 5 Wipe-Clean Word Cards
- 5 Your Baby Can Read! Interactive DVDs

- 1 Parents' Guide Book
- 1 My First Words Sliding Windows Book
- 1 Early Learning Workshop DVD, with Dr. Titzer
- 1 Sing Along CD, with songs from the DVDs

It's never to early to instill a love of reading. My son's first trip to the library was around 2 months of age. Reading to your children and incorporating it into a routine at an early age gives them a head start. Your Baby Can Read can really accelerate your child's learning. The set has some fabulous tools to help you teach your child. It really is amazing how quickly little ones pick things up!

My two year old especially loves the lift-flap word and picture books. It's so simple yet brilliant at the same time! The sliding word and picture cards are a fun game to him and I love that he enjoys learning so much. It's a great way to spend quality time together and prepare him for the future.

Check out the testimonial videos on YourBabyCanRead.com. They are amazing!

Our Homeschool Fun Giveway

Over at Our Homeschool Fun they are doing a Friday's Gracious Giveaway. Wishes and Whimsies has the most unique and amazing learning games I have every seen!! They are more than just games they are beautiful to look at!

The sponsor is-Wishes and Whimsies. Wishes and Whimsies is owned by a mom of two, Julie, who makes beautifully handcrafted toys and games that enhance a child's creativity and imagination. Her toys and games are not only handmade, but they are bright and colorful and aesthetically appealing to both parents and children. Julie is eco and environmentally friendly--all wood products are painted with non-toxic watercolors and sealed with an all natural wood moisturizing creme, and any inks used for stamping are also non-toxic.

Wishes and Whimsies
carries a variety of products that encourage and promote learning, imagination and creativity in a fun and natural way making Julie's products great for kids of all ages from toddler to elementary school. A young toddler would benefit from and enjoy using her Tumbling Tower Blocks, whereas a preschooler would probably enjoy her Alphabet Nature Game or her Wooden Under the Sea Board Game.

Fried Green Tomatoes

I went to the local farmers market over the weekend to buy some veggies and couldn't resist getting a green tomato. I love Fried Green Tomatoes (the movie to!) So I decided to cook some tonight with dinner and they were yummy!

Menu Plan Mondays

Ok I finally started planning meals. I have always been pretty good at coupon shopping and checking the grocery store ads for deals. But not really so good at planning a whole week of meals. So I sat down as usual with my Sunday paper and clipped my coupons and planned the whole week of dinners. I think it will make it easier at dinner for me and Ellie. That's a hard time of day for us since its close to bedtime. I am tired and then cooking dinner, giving her a bath. Ahh...it's so nice when Trent is home to help with these things....

But back to menu planning. Here is my weekly Menu Plan

Monday- Meatballs with brown gravy & noodles & Broccoli and cheese(Ellie loved this! She said it was very yummy. She usually just doesn't like it)

Tuesday- Eggplant Parmesan

Wednesday-Meatloaf (mom's recipe) & mashed potatoes

Thursday- Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo

Friday- Hamburgers

Saturday- Spaghetti

The Pick-up Fairy & the Dessert Fairy

Just read this article in Parents Magizne and decided to try it. It's about a mom who told her child there was a Pick-up Fairy. It's like pulling teeth at my house to get Ellie to pick up her toys. Major Drama. So I told her today about The Pick-up Fairy, whose real name is Gladys. She comes over when I call her (when Ellie is not here) and picks-up all the toys that Ellie left on her floor and didn't clean up and takes them for a week. Her and Tessa believe it so far! So we will see how it goes this afternoon before bed when it's time to clean up.

I tried this myself before just putting all her toys in a garbage bag and "throwing them away" when she refused to clean up. She didn't even miss the toys. Aww, my very strong-willed child :)

The dessert fairy, whose name is Milkweed, eats your dessert if you don't eat all your dinner. Another battle with her. But she is a pretty good eater most of the time.

Our flight to VA Beach...very long trip

Our flight started out very early! 4 am we left our house. Dena is "The Best Friend Ever" and took us to the airport. Our first flight was a little over 2 1/2 hrs to Philly. Then luckily we only had a 45 min wait until the next flight. Which went by fast by the time Ellie played at the play area in the airport. Then we ate (a very yummy philly cheese-steak) and made our way to our gate. The next flight was only 30 mins long. Then we finally arrived @ 12:30 Eastern time. Ellie was exhausted! She didn't sleep at all during either flight.
